Jonathon Rees
Jonathon is a professional science and technology communicator with a background in journalism. He is a founder director of Proof and Chair of the science sub-committee of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations. Jonathon’s focus is on designing and implementing creative programmes that help scientists and their organisations meet their strategic research, business and communication objectives. He works closely with scientists and their communication teams to ensure communication best practice becomes embedded in an organisation. Jonathon is a professional facilitator and media trainer.
Richard Moss
Richard joined Proof as a director in 2005 following seven years helping large corporate technology companies including Oracle, Microsoft and Orange promote themselves to business, government and consumers. During the last five years Richard has developed and delivered media campaigns for national laboratories, the research divisions of FTSE 100 companies, government departments and the Technology Strategy Board. He is a professional project manager and communication strategist.
Joe Meaney
Joe is a PR professional with more than 12 years experience communicating for government and business-facing organisations. He joined Proof in 2007 having previously spent four years at NESTA as Communications Manager, where he managed the PR and marketing for two innovation funding streams. Prior to NESTA, Joe spent five years working his way up the Press & Public Affairs department of another high profile Non-Departmental Public Body – the Arts Council of England. Joe has a Masters in Journalism and is the lead on Proof’s PR and Public Affairs work for the National Physical Laboratory and HiPER.
Jim Sutton
Jim has nearly 10 years experience in strategic PR and delivery of communication programmes. He came to Proof having managed media and marketing campaigns for global brands such as Philips and Nestle. Jim is an expert in helping organisations understand what they want to communicate and raising their profile in the media. He leads on Proof’s work with the ISIS Neutron Source, The Digital Systems Knowledge Transfer Network as well as projects with BP Research and Technology and Werth Messtechnik.
Robin Wilkinson
Robin has a genetics degree from Manchester and Masters in Science Communication from Imperial College. She runs communication programmes for knowledge transfer networks, European programmes and an IT trade association.
David Lewis
David has a background in education and enterprise PR, working with organisations including The National Council for Graduate Entrepreneurship, SEEDA and The University of Reading. David has an excellent sense of what makes a good story, and a strong track record of securing high quality coverage in the national media. He is equally comfortable writing complex technical articles for trade publications.
Luke Kennedy – Proof Public Affairs
Luke works with some of the UK’s leading corporate, third sector and research bodies in developing their political profile and Government relationships at a local, national and European level.
Luke entered politics at the political think tank DEMOS, where he advised Government and other public bodies across social, science and arts policy. Luke has an unrivalled understanding of the political communication process and extensive contacts across Westminster and Whitehall.
He holds an MSc in Politics from the London School of Economics and a BSc in Economics from Leeds Business School.
Robin Grainger – Proof Public Affairs
Robin is a director at Proof Public Affairs and has a particular interest in energy, environment and technology. He began his career in politics as a parliamentary researcher to the former Lib Dem Environment Secretary, Norman Baker MP. He moved onto the Environment Agency where he was responsible for briefing ministers and parliamentarians, as well as responding to parliamentary questions about the work of DEFRA.
Patrick Cusworth – Proof Public Affairs
Patrick Cusworth has eight years experience in public affairs, specialising in science, healthcare and pharmaceuticals. He is skilled in formulating and implementing public affairs and media strategies, and identifying and influencing key opinion formers across Westminster and Whitehall. He has worked in both Houses of Parliament as a researcher to two MPs and an independent crossbench peer, and has also managed a city-wide Parliamentary campaign for the Conservative Party during the 2005 General Election.
Patrick holds a Masters degree in Medical Law and Ethics (with Distinction), and has appeared on three occasions before Government Select Committees to give evidence on science and healthcare related issues.
