GPS signal conference well received

GPS signalA Digital Systems Knowledge Transfer Network conference earlier this year investigated illegal jamming of GPS signals, an increasingly common tactic used in criminal activity. It looked at the wider impact on satellite navigation systems and possible solutions to the problem.

Proof was asked to raise awareness of the meeting through sensible, accurate media coverage avoiding overblown scare stories.

By inviting trusted media sources and briefing them thoroughly, Proof ensured the correct message was communicated to the right audience.

This approach resulted in stories in the Financial Times, BBC online and the Guardian. It was also the most widely read story ever in the leading global trade title Inside GNSS.

A host of sites around world picked up on the story including The Register, Wired and The Engineer.

Because the first stories were carefully managed, when the news spread, it did so with the correct message.

“Proof did a superb job raising awareness of the event with appropriate media. The resulting high profile and accurate reporting of the event and the issues it raised was exactly the outcome we wanted.”

Bob Cockshott, Location and Timing Director, Digital Systems Knowledge Transfer Network.
