Winter night sky
Winter night sky in the Northern Hemisphere. Bands of dust and glowing nebulae are seen along the band of billions of stars that is our Milky Way galaxy seen from the inside. At left is the zodiacal light, a faint, roughly triangular, whitish glow, seen only in dark night skies, that appears to extend up from the vicinity of the sun along the ecliptic, or zodiac. The red line was made by a person walking with a red light.
