Ecuadorian family diet

The Ayme family of Tingo, a village in the central Andes of Ecuador, with a week’s worth of food. The family, which are potato and sheep farmers, spend US$31.55 a week on groceries. They cook with a wood fire and preserve food by natural drying. Photograph from “Hungry Planet: What the World Eats” by Peter Menzel and Faith D’Aluisio.
