Caricature of the British amateur astronomer and television presenter Sir Patrick Moore (born 1923). Moore is credited as having done more than any other to raise the profile of astronomy amongst the British public. He is probably best known for presenting ‘The Sky at Night’ on the BBC, the longest running television series with the same original presenter. He is a writer, researcher, radio commentator, former president of the British Astronomical Association, and co-founder and former president of the Society for Popular Astronomy.
